Pax Mundi - World peace
Seven years ago, the US/UK coalition launched an illegal, invasion of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in alleged response to the multiple war crimes committed in the US on September 11th.
The 9/11 events have still never been fully or adequately investigated and there are still so many questions about these epoch making events that remain unanswered to this day.
The so called war on terror was immediately launched following the 9/11 events, this resulted in more war crimes being committed in Afghanistan and Iraq and atrocities also occurred in Madrid and London.
In the last few years we have seen so many atrocities committed across the world and there has rarely been a full investigation into who perpetrated these war crimes, and, there is never any reflection on why these war crimes were committed, before the next round of punitive measures against those who our governments tell us are responsible.
Here in Britain where I live we have a very unhealthy attitude to these violent occupations in which our nation’s armed forces are involved, and our response to the marginalisation of the British islamic community, is one of silent complicity.
The wars in Afghanistan or Iraq, the extent of the loss of civil liberties under the anti terror laws and our islamophobic media seem to be taboo subjects which it is impolite to raise in casual conversation and to which it is unusual to receive a reciprocal response.
My purpose in starting this war log is to be able to talk about the issues of war , for, unless we have a dialogue which includes the unpleasant details of these military occupations, then we effectively deny their existence, if we are more aware, of the unpleasant details of our dirty wars then it is harder to deny responsibility.
Awareness of the consequences, and, realities of the war on terror might just raise our collective consciousness, if we can recognise the extent of our bestiality, we may just regain some of our humanity.
Humanity now faces many problems that we urgently need to deal with, if we are to survive at a comparable level of civilisation, to that which we have now.
What is needed is a coordinated response to impending threats like global climate change, the end of oil and impending worldwide economic collapse.
We can never achieve the level of international co-operation necessary to make progress on these issues unless we can first resolve all armed conflicts and find peaceful ways to resolve disputes through dialogue and without resorting to armed force.
